Choose You First: The 14-Minute Daily Practice for a Happier Week
Have you ever woken up on a Monday already feeling behind?
Not because anything has gone wrong, but because the thought of everything waiting for you feels overwhelming before the week has even begun.
If that's you today, I want to remind you of something simple.
Choose you.
Not for an hour. Not for a whole day.
Just for 14 minutes.
The Power of 1%
One percent of your day is approximately 14 minutes.
It doesn't sound like much, but small moments of intentional self-care can have a powerful impact on how you experience the rest of your day.
When life feels demanding, we often believe we need to push harder. We tell ourselves we'll rest later, take care of ourselves later, or do something enjoyable when everything else is finished.
The problem is, "later" rarely arrives.
Instead, I encourage you to make yourself part of today's priority.

Feeling Flat Doesn't Mean You're Failing
There are days when you simply don't have the same energy.
You might feel emotionally flat, mentally tired, or find yourself looking at the week ahead wondering how you're going to get through it all.
That's human.
Rather than criticising yourself for feeling this way, give yourself permission to pause.
Choosing yourself isn't selfish. It's how you refill your own cup so you can show up for everything else that matters.
What Can You Do in 14 Minutes?
Your 14 minutes don't need to be productive.
They simply need to help you reconnect with yourself.
You could:
Listen to your favourite music.
Enjoy an inspiring podcast.
Go for a short walk.
Read a chapter of a book.
Call an old friend on your way to work.
Sit quietly with a cup of tea or coffee.
Spend a few moments doing something that makes your heart feel lighter.
The activity doesn't matter nearly as much as the intention behind it.
Choose What Makes Your Heart Sing
Ask yourself one simple question:
What could I do for 14 minutes today that would make my wellbeing feel safe, cared for, and loved?
The answer will be different for everyone.
The important part is making the choice.
Because every time you intentionally invest in your own wellbeing, you're reminding yourself that you matter too.
A Simple Challenge for This Week
This Monday, give yourself just 14 minutes.
One percent of your day.
One small choice to prioritise your wellbeing before the demands of the week take over.
It may not solve every challenge you're facing, but it might just change how you move through the rest of your day.
Sometimes the smallest commitment to yourself becomes the biggest step towards feeling like yourself again.
So today, choose you. Your 14 minutes are waiting.
